A cozy indoor collective cafe seen through large glass doors. Inside, four people sit at a table with drinks, chatting. The cafe has large windows, wooden beams, and a modern, minimalist decor with some indoor plants.

Providing therapy in the heart of Wivenhoe and training within the beautiful studios of The Practise, The Study exists as part of a community of people offering therapy and sharing ideas and locations.

A modern kitchen with wooden beams on the ceiling, a central kitchen island with a dark wood base and a wooden countertop, three stools with metal legs and wooden seats, and a white tiled wall with open shelving holding glasses and bowls. There are hanging pendant lights over the island, a potted plant on the island, and a window on the right letting in natural light.

About the setting

Setting is one of the most important and often most overlooked components of therapy. We recognised through our own training and personal experiences of therapy that high quality therapeutic environments are scarce. That’s why we waited until we could find the perfect locations before launching The Study.

Our work takes place at a centre for therapy in a Victorian building in the heart of Wivenhoe, and within a beautifully converted old joinery building in Birch. Our aim is to help build a community of like-minded people who can utilise shared locations.

A black brick building with the words 'The Old Joinery' in white letters on the facade, a black door, a clock showing 10:55, and a light fixture above the door.
